FREE BROWSER-LOCAL FILE TOOLS

Edit JSON without uploading it.

Open or paste JSON, inspect its structure, edit, format or minify it. Your contents stay in this browser.

Step 1: open your file

Start with JSON to edit its source or structure. Contents stay in this browser.

  1. Edit in the source editor or Structure tools and review validation feedback.
  2. Download your edited JSON.
Paste JSON

File contents stay in this browser. Download changes before refreshing or closing the tab.

Inspect nested structure

Searchable tree and raw editor views make nested objects, arrays, keys, values, and record boundaries easier to inspect.

Edit, format and validate

Make changes in the raw editor, validate them, then format, minify or download a new JSON file. Syntax problems are reported without sending the document to a server.

Choose the matching format

Use JSON for one complete value, JSONL or NDJSON for one JSON value per line.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert JSONC comments to strict JSON?

In the browser editor, open a .jsonc file or paste JSONC source, then choose Repair and JSONC to strict JSON. Safe JSON repairs remains the default task. Review the complete original and converted result before downloading a separate .json copy or explicitly applying one undoable edit. Only comments and trailing commas are removed; numeric and string tokens remain unchanged. Ordinary formatting still requires strict JSON. Duplicate keys and JSON5 syntax are refused. Conversion supports up to 2 Mi characters, 128 container levels and 100,000 tokens/values, with local cancellation and a five-second limit. Native file associations, installed versions and integration support can differ.

Can I convert JSON5 to strict JSON without rounding numbers?

Choose Repair and JSON5 to strict JSON in the browser editor. Review the complete original and proposal, then download a separate .json copy or explicitly Apply; Undo restores the original. Supported JSON5 data includes comments, trailing commas, unquoted keys, single-quoted strings, signed decimals and hexadecimal integers. Strict decimal number spellings are retained, including values beyond JavaScript number range; hexadecimal integers convert exactly. Strings and keys are quoted or escaped when required. NaN, Infinity, decoded duplicate keys, JavaScript expressions and unsupported syntax are refused. Limits are 2 Mi source/output characters, 10,000 characters per numeric token, 100,000 tokens/values and 128 container levels, with local cancellation and a five-second deadline. Ordinary formatting and the separate JSONC task retain their strict policies. This does not provide comment-preserving JSON5 structured editing or certify installed/integration versions.

Can I calculate and transform JSON with JSONata?

Open Query & transform to select, filter and preview a local result before explicit replacement; Undo restores the source. Numeric values and text casts have precision limits. Arithmetic requires provable safe integer intermediates and supports at most 100,000 input values/containers: decimal arithmetic, unknown function contexts and unbounded calculations are refused. Aggregates check their subtotals; nonintegral averages and division are unavailable. Decimal selection and comparisons remain available. This is a restricted query tool, not an arbitrary-precision calculation engine.

Can AI help draft a JSONata query?

When this task is available for the configured destination, open Query & transform and expand Draft a query with assistance. Prepare a JSON Pointer's observed field metadata, review it and explicitly include it. Optional exact sample values require separate preparation and inclusion; current expression text is also optional. The exact request preview shows what will be sent. Metadata covers direct fields and at most three selected array items, not a complete schema. Local draft checks parse JSONata and reject unsafe numeric literals and $eval without evaluating the query. Use reviewed JSONata draft changes only expression text; Preview query runs it separately with the existing source-dependent precision and arithmetic guards. Results and model explanations remain unverified until the relevant separate checks. Cancelling or stale source/query/model context cannot replace manual query text. Unconfigured tasks stay unavailable; source files, paths, grants and local schema/reference resources are not attached automatically.

Why do long JSON lines scroll horizontally?

Very long source lines use horizontal scrolling so the editor stays responsive. Full text, validation and editing remain available. Shorter lines wrap again; formatting can shorten lines by changing whitespace, and Undo restores the previous source.

How do I edit a JSON document?

Choose or paste JSON, edit its source or use the Structure tools, and review validation feedback. Download a new JSON file when the result is ready.

Can I keep editing after a syntax error?

Yes. Your source remains available for repair. Correct the syntax and validate again before downloading the result.

Does my JSON file get uploaded?

Local editing processes selected and pasted contents in your browser. Optional Assistance sends your goal and only the context you explicitly prepare and include, such as a selected subtree or observed query field metadata, to OpenRouter and the configured model provider. Its preview shows exactly what is included. Ordinary page and asset requests also reach the hosting provider.
